This will probably be the shortest entry I have ever written, lol! As I was reflecting on what I have gone through in my past and as of now, I know it would have been really hard doing it without my family and friends. I really appreciate everything they have done. From the smallest to the biggest acts of kindness, I am so eternally grateful for it all. I know I have mentioned this before about having a support system, but it is important. Whether you have mental illness or not, it is vital to have at least 1 person in your corner.
In my previous entry, Let’s Start From The Beginning, I have discussed having depression since the age of 10. From the age of 10 to 20, I have hidden my depression, because I didn’t have much of a support system. By some miracle, I did not kill myself despite the many attempts. Even my first therapist have said, “I don’t know how you are still alive with all you have gone through, without meds, therapy, and a support system” Am I saying it’s impossible to get through your mental illness without a support system? Depending how serious is your illness; I believe it’s not impossible. However, it’s extremely hard and makes the process of healing extremely slow.
So, please confined in someone. If you don’t have friends and you have toxic family members, you can go to a therapist or if you can’t afford one, a mentor will be fine. There are suicide hotlines and of course, I… Only Michy is available to be there. Adulting is tough. It’s more tough when having mental illness. But you don’t have to do it alone. There are people who care. We can all adult one day at a time.
